I’ve got two boys that I’m raising and so far they have picked up none of my bad habits. Now that I’m a family man, I left the rock band thing that I did when I was younger. I spent age 17 to 35 or so moonlighting as lead vocalist with a little keyboard playing to help fill out the sound with different bands over those years, Ranging from high school garage bands to serious regional bands that toured a little and to local bands that got it’s ya-ya’s out in small clubs around the area. I was never close to the big time and never expected to get close; I just had a good time doing it. I realized I had to quit because my kids were young and demanding and it was too hard to function as a parent on Sunday morning when you got back from Warroad at . God, do I miss the band thing, but my life with my kids is beyond words and I have no regrets, just a little longing that would probably go away a couple of weeks later if I got back into it again.
My life is Family, Work and Youth Sports right now and it’s been blur.
We had it and then we lost it... Such is baseball. It took 12 innings but the Indians came from behind and beat the Twins 9-8.
The Twins jumped on Cleveland for a 7 to 3 lead going into the 8th inning. It was the top of the 8th that Cleveland was able to tie the game on a Jason Giambi three run shot off reliever Casey Fein.
The pitching situation with the Twins is starting to look quite shaky. I know... it's been shaky for awhile but it's starting to look shakier. It has been long rumored that Kyle Gibson is on an innings limit. Kyle is coming off of Tommy John surgery. The Twins started that rumor before the season started with a maybe statement but since then they have been vague on the subject... Neither confirming or denying since. Between Rochester and Minnesota... Kyle has reached 140 Innings now. If he is gonna end up on the shelf because of an innings limit to protect him. It will be happening soon. All we can do... I guess is just wait until the Twins actually shut him down... If they do.
Meanwhile... Sam Deduno has been shaky the past two starts and Ron Gardenhire was quoted as saying that Sam looks like he might be fighting some dead arm. Gardy says he's working harder out there and that's a sign of dead arm. If true... Deduno will require a little rest and Gibson will require a lot of rest.
I don't expect immediate changes but if those two need to step out. The Twins will have to find a couple of pitchers to fill in. Diamond and Hendriks are the top candidates right now... Actually... They may be the only candidates right now. Vance Worley isn't back from elbow problems. Cole DeVries has had elbow problems and is currently rehabing. Pedro Hernandez is also starting rehab from an injury. Two other starters on the 40 man roster... Trevor May and while considered a top prospect... Trevor has been struggling with control at AA. BJ Hermsen is the other and he has been terrible in every sense of the word at AA. The Twins could add a pitcher like PJ Walters or Nick Blackburn to the 40 man roster... Remember Blackburn... That would require taking someone off the 40 man roster. If you take someone off the 40 man roster... You risk losing that player to another team. We do have a spot open with the trade of Jamey Carroll but Darin Mastrioanni currently off the 40 man because he is on the 60 day disabled list is getting ready to play again and Carroll's spot was... I'm guessing... reserved for him.
Andrew Albers is going to have to continue to be amazing. Kevin Correia and Mike Pelfrey need to improve and stay healthy.
The Twins host the White Sox to start a 4 game series tonight. Correia pitches tonight, Pelfrey will pitch Friday and Albers will go Saturday. After that... Stay Tuned.
